Success of Monastir Congress in Tunisia

From 28th of April to 30th of April International congress was held in Monastir in Tunisia „Reality of physical education – motor education or sport education? What tendencies?“. Congress was organised by Institut supérier du sport et de l ´éducation physique of Sfax (ISSEPS) in cooperation with FIEP and University STAPS Paris Descartes in France. It was organised with support of Tunis Ministry of youth, sports and physical education Mr. Samir Labidi, who participated personally on congress opening ceremony. Congress participants were specialists from Tunisia, Morocco, Algeria, Jordan and France. Director board of FIEP was represented by President of FIEP International scientific section Pierre Parlebas (he was programme manager) and FIEP International Vice-president Branislav Antala. The most important role on congress success had President of Organising committee and director of ISSEPS Ali Elloumi, member of FIEP International scientific section and FIEP General Delegate in Tunisia.

During three congress days were presented many papers. Among it we would like to mention especially some keynote presentations, like a Pierre Parlebas (France) „New modern conception of physical education“, Eric Dugas (France) „Transfer and activities – motor education in physical education“, Ali Elloumi (Tunisia) „Motor education through games in school physical education“, Mohamed Lahlou (Morocco) „Physical and sport education in Morocco – way to the new conception“, Antala Branislav (Slovakia) - Ken Hardman (England) „Physical and sport education in school curricula – actual situation, problems and perspectives“. Next keynote speakers were e.g. Ali Deiry (Jordan), Raja Rammoussi (Tunisia), Tarak Driss (France), Imen Ben Amar (Tunisia), Naafa Milliti (Tunisia) etc. Round table with three main topics – Physical education and its specifications; Motor education or sport education; Physical education teachers training - was also part of the congress.

Congress conclusions will be presented after processing in FIEP Bulletin and also on FIEP Europe website. Congress participants have agreed next collaboration and accepted proposition on next congress in 2010 in Morocco with subjects – history, specifications and problems of physical education in the world, especially in Maghreb countries.
