Report on the 13th FIEP European Congress, 29th FIEP World Congress and FIEP delegates meeting, Istanbul, Turkey, 26th – 29th of September 2018
The 13th FIEP European Congress was held together with 29th FIEP World Congress from 26th – 29th September 2018 in Istanbul, Turkey. Topic of the congress was
“Innovative Physical Education and Sport”.
Congress was organized by the Marmara University, Hacettepe University and their partners. Special thanks belong to the FIEP national delegate of Turkey and the chair of Organising Committee Giyasettin Demirhan and to all others, who participated on a preparation of this important event. Participants from 33 countries were registered for the congress and presented 130 presentations (oral or posters).
Eight invited symposia were presented by Conseil Européen des Recherches en Éducation Physique et Sportive (CEREPS):
Giyasettin Demirhan (Turkey) was awarded by “Medal of Manuel Gomes Tubino”, Salih Pinar, Levent Ince and Fatih Dervent (Turkey) were awarded by “FIEP Commemorative Medal” edited on occasion of 50th anniversary of Olympic Games in Mexico and Jana Vašíčková (Czech Republic), Rafael Nebot I Villar (Spain), Dana Masaryková (Slovakia) and Ivan Pašič (Serbia) were awarded by “FIEP Europe Thulin Award 2018”. The 5th launch of FIEP Future Leaders program for graduate or doctoral students or young teachers was a part of the congress.
FIEP Delegates Meeting
(27th of September 2018)
FIEP delegates’ meeting was held on 27th September 2018 at the Marmara University. Participants of the meeting were: Manuel Guerrero (Mexico), FIEP World Vice-president for Nord Amerika, Dario Novak (Croatia), FIEP Europe General Secretary, Enric Sebastiani Obrador (Spain – Catalunya) and Airikki Pousi (Finland), FIEP Europe Vice-presidents, Nenad Zivanovic (Serbia), President of FIEP Europe PE and Sport History section, Sergei Ivashchenko (Ukraine), President of FIEP World and Europe Olympic section, Jana Vašíčková (Czech republic), President of FIEP Europe Leisure Activity section and other members of FIEP World Director board and FIEP delegates and assistant national delegates from 30 countries. As a guest was present Uri Schaeffer (Izrael), president of ICSSPE and Djibril Seck, representative of CONFEJES.

The FIEP Europe General Secretary Dario Novak (Croatia) presented info about 4th Physical Education
World-wide Survey that FIEP in cooperation with UNESCO will realize during the next 4 years.
He presented a confirmation letter from UNESCO, history of PE world-wide surveys,
planned steps for its realization.
He informed on creation of the Croatian Cotutelle PhD Scholarship Program (to support PhD scholarships for
Croatian applicants who will work with fully on Worldwide PE study) in collaboration with
the Macquarie University (Australia).
An invitation to be the advisor of the project was accepted by the author of last three surveys,
Ken Hardman (Great Britain). FIEP plans to invite other international bodies for cooperation, e.g. ICSSPE, EUPEA, CEREPS, etc.
Approximate time schedule:
2017 – 2018: Comprehensive literature reviews, Comprehensive questionnaire preparation
2019: Distribution of the questionnaire
2020 – 2021: Data analysis and final research report
Dario Novak presented next concrete steps: A final preparation of the forthcoming survey; Experts group creation (within the FIEP itself); Employing 2 full time doctoral student through the Cotutelle and Joint PhD program with University of Zagreb (Croatia) and Macquarie University (Australia); Questionnaires properly translated (available in several languages) and Dissemination of questionnaires when they are ready.
3. FIEP New Leaders Project
Dario Novak, FIEP Europe General Secretary, presented FIEP project “FIEP New Leaders – FNL”. The 5th launch of the FNL program for university students or young teachers was carried out during the congress with an intention to enable young people to interact with broader scientific community and prepare them for involvement in different FIEP managerial positions. 11 leaders from 9 European countries took part in the project, hosted for free (congress fee, accommodation and meals) by the Organizing Committee. They actively participated in the event with their poster presentations. The winner of the poster session, Stefanie Gall (Switzerland) was selected by the committee what secures her the invitation for the next FIEP European congress in 2019 as an FNL.

Activities of FIEP Europe Physical Education and Sport History Section were presented
by Nenad Živanovič (Serbia), President of the section:
Journal “Physical Education and Sport through the Centuries" Nenad Živanovic presented the last issue of the international journal “Physical Education and Sport through the Centuries" published in cooperation with 4 Universities in Serbia. “History of Table Tennis in Europe” - 2019
In 2018 FIEP Europe Section for History of PE and Sport in cooperation with Faculty of Sports and Physical Education in Leposavič, University of Pristina, published book “Volleyball in Europe”. In 2019 the section plans to publish a book “History of Tennis Table in Europe”. Call for articles will be sent to the delegates end of 2018.
The 6th International Conference “Anthropological and Teo-anthropological Views on Physical Activity from Time of Constantine the Great to Modern Times” will be held in Kopaonik, Serbia, 21th – 22nd of March 2019. E-mail contact: email@example.com

8. 14th FIEP European Congress, 30th FIEP World Congress and 2nd Congress of FIEP Catalunya in 2019 – Barcelona, Catalunya, Spain
Augusí Castilo I Caniz, national delegate FIEP Catalunya, had presentation about the next FIEP Congress. The 14th FIEP European Congress together with the 30th FIEP World congress and 2nd Congress of FIEP Catalunya will be held in Barcelona from the 27th to 29th of June 2019. Topic will be “Sport, Physical Education and Performing Arts as Tools of Social Transformation”. Congress website: fiep2019barcelona.com.
Next FIEP delegates meeting will be held in Barcelona during FIEP congress. We would like to invite all FIEP national delegates to participate in the FIEP Congress in Barcelona and ask them to promote the congress in their countries.

FIEP was invited for meetings of CCPFC of CONFEJES. The meetings were held from 4th to 7th April 2017 in Dakar, Senegal. The chair of the new FIEP African Francophone Section will be Morocco and members of board will be: for Central Africa – Cameroun, for West Africa – Senegal and Benin, for Maghreb – Tunisia and for Indian Ocean region - Madagascar. A signature of convention is a result of the cooperation between FIEP and CONFEJES that started in 2015 during the 1st FIEP Afro-European Conference on Physical Education and Sport organized by Institut Royal des Formation des Cadres in Rabat, Morocco.
